The Big Blue
Cape Town has the sea coming in from both sides of the big city. That makes life so much more convenient, because no matter what type of beach and waves you are looking for, we have it. On the South Atlantic Ocean side (cold water) you get Blouberg Strand. The beach is famous for its wind, which makes it one of the best spots to wind surf. You will find most of your wind surfers there as its also a big beach with rock-free space for everyone. Camps Bay is THE tourist spot to be if you want to catch a tan. The beach is not that big, but you can take a walk to smaller beaches linked to Camps Bay. The area is very popular, especially under the rich, as you will only get mansions built on the mountain slopes.
On the Indian Ocean side (warm water) you will get Muizenberg, the place to be when surfing is your thing. There is a part of the beach where people learn to surf, called the “Surfers Corner” . If you haven’t surfed before, The Surfers Corner is great to explore, it is such a fun activity even if it is just a once-in-a-lifetime event.
There are various beautiful scuba diving spots, breathtaking hidden beaches, great fishing spots at the harbours or boat rides to Robben Island, but that’s a topic for another day.
Venture down the coast and find your special sun-down-at-the-beach spot.
